The initiative aims to better connect youngsters to the Australian team and better educate them about Paralympic sport.

During a one-hour video conference on October 28, which is set to link in hundreds of students across the country, Nunn, Australia's Chef de Mission at Sochi 2014, will explain how to set SMART goals – ones that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-based, while Badenhorst will talk about her passion and the importance of goals in her Paralympic career.

Badenhorst, 20, was selected for Sochi 2014 but was forced to pull out of taking part after sustaining a knee injury in training on the morning of competition.

The APC has teamed up with Virtual SportsFest to deliver the workshop during which students will broaden their understanding of Paralympic sport and athletes with a disability, the importance of anti-bullying and inclusiveness in all aspects of their lives and also learn how to set their own goals for life, home and school.

They will also be able to take part in a range of other activities, including interviewing Badenhorst on being a Paralympian, brainstorm the values and characteristics of a champion, and share their own goals with peers from other schools.
