The 2015 Goalball African Championships will take place in Algerian capital Algiers ©Algerian Paralympic CommitteeAlgeria has been awarded next year's International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball African Championships, it has been announced.

The Championships will be held in the capital Algiers and are due take place from November 20 to 30, 2015.

Both female and male national teams from Africa will be invited to participate in the competition that will also act as the African regional qualifying tournament for Rio 2016.

The top placed male and female nation from this event will be guaranteed qualification to attend the Paralympic Games in Rio.

Algeria's men are the leading goalball side in Africa and finished sixth at this year's Wold Championships in Espoo, Finland.

They were also the only African nation at London 2012, beating Belgium and Canada before losing out in the quarter-finals to eventual bronze medallists Turkey.

At last year's Goalball African Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, Algeria went through the competition undefeated before thrashing Egypt 12-2 in the final.
