Port Moresby 2015 chief executive Peter Stewart has confirmed that testing of the Pacific Games venues is set to take place across three days in June, with preparations due for completion by May 31.

A number of tests will be run on June 6 and 7, followed by another on June 21, just 13 days before the Games begin on July 4.

“We are almost there, it’s fantastic, it’s exciting to be in Port Moresby at the moment,” Stewart told the Fiji Sun during the Oceania National Olympic Committees General Assembly.

“And it’s even more exciting putting together the final plan and we are making sure that catering [and] transportation of the athletes is spot on.

“We have [two] months and [a] couple of days to put in the things that we need to do to make it work.”

As many as 3,000 athletes from 23 nations are due to compete across 28 different sports at this year's two-week long Pacific Games.

“We have some [of the] best venues in the world being developed at the moment,” the official added.

"After the Pacific Games, Port Moresby will probably have some [of the] best sporting venues in the Pacific.”

Despite high levels of serious crime in Papua New Guinea, with law and order described as either "poor" or "very poor" in many parts of the country, Stewart is confident that security will not be a problem.

“I find Port Moresby a wonderful place to live in,” he added.

“We will do everything that we can to ensure safety in PNG (Papua New Guinea).”
