The event, which was held just outside of Nantes, saw the gymnasts continue their preparations for the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in the Danish city of Odense, with the reigning men’s individual champion Dong Dong among those competing as the Chinese star prepares to defend his title.

However Dong, who also claimed gold at the London 2012 Olympics, found himself trailing his team-mate Gao Lei in qualification and also proved unable to better his performance in the final as well.

Having achieved a total score of 61.370, Lei secured his second successive World Cup victory having won the last event in the Spanish city of Valladolid, with Dong finishing as the runner-up on 60.240 while Japan’s finisher Yasuhiro Ueyama completed the podium having secured 60.125.

There would be another Chinese one-two in the women’s competition as Li Dan comfortably earned the women’s title having finished with a points total of 57.335 to finish clear of her synchronised partner Xhong Xingping, who scored 55.975.

Tatsiana Piatrenia of Belarus finished 1.035 clear of her compatriot Hanna Harchonak to take the bronze medal with 54.435.

Ueyama and Masaki Ito briefly halted China’s gold rush as the Japanese pair secured the men’s synchronised title with 51.700, meaning Germany and the United States were forced to settle for silver and bronze after the two teams earned scores of 48.900 and 46.500 respectively.

It did not take long for Chinese athletes to be back on the podium though as Li Meng and Liu Lingling finished on 47.600 to win the women’s synchronised gold ahead of Uzbekistan’s Anna Kasparyan and Ekaterina Khilko, who ended on 46.200.

Jia Fangfang sealed a fourth gold for her nation as the two-time world champion earned women’s tumbling gold having scored 69.200 after her routines, while Russia’s Anna Korobeinikova continued her comeback after giving birth by securing silver on 67.600.

France’s Marie Deloge took the bronze medal after narrowly edging out Britain’s Yasmin Taite by ending the event just 0.200 ahead of her rivals, after scoring 32.700 and 32.000 in her two routines.

However,  Britain would end the World Cup with a medal after Greg Townley topped the men’s tumbling standings on 75,200, with Russia’s Tagir Mrutazaev and China’s Longji Liu completing the podium after being awarded 74.300 and 73.600 by the judges.
