The American team is set to travel to Buenos Aires in Argentina for the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation continental qualifying event, between January 22 and 29.

They must place in the top two in Argentina's capital to qualify for the World Championships in Toronto in June.

Both the University of Wisconsin and University of Missouri are well represented with eight athletes between them.

Leading the way for the Wisconsin Warhawks are Kyle Gribble and John Schwartz, who both helped their side to the national title in the 2015-16 season.

Mark Krenz, Collin Evans and Drew Selz are the others to be selected from Wisconsin.

The Warhawks have won six of the last nine National Championships, all under the guidance of head coach Jeremy Lade who is also in charge of the US under-23 men's team.

"We are very excited with the entire group of athletes that made our selection process very difficult, which is a testament to the level of the athletes selected to represent our country at the Under-23 World Championships," said Lade.

"The team has a great mix of talent that lends itself well to the faster pace of the international game.

"We are looking forward to the challenges of getting the talent we have to play well together and represent our country."

Representing the Missouri Tigers are Marshall Lindsay, Tyler Malone and Joe Underwood.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha has two athletes on the team, Jeromie Meyer II and Brent Regier.

Completing the 12-strong squad are Fabian Romo and Chayse Wolf.

Joining Lade on the sidelines are assistant coaches Christian Burkett and Scott Meyer.
