Japan claimed a golden double in bouldering finals at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Youth World Championships in Moscow today.

Rei Kawamata first won the men's youth 'B' event at the CSKA Athletics and Football Hall.

Thomas Podalan of Austria clinched second place.

In third was another Japanese climber in Ryoei Nukui.

Natsuki Tanii then completed the double by winning the corresponding women's event.

Naile Meignan of France took silver and Hana Kudo of Japan the bronze.

The results certainly boded well for the host nation before the sport makes its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, although the event may fall too soon for some of those competing.
