A number of Para-athletes are set to join a fundraising challenge for the Swiss Paralympic Committee.

Specialist teacher Hugues Jeanrenaud is set to run 360 kilometres through the four linguistic regions of Switzerland from August 6 to 17.

The 43-year-old mountain runner is aiming to raise money for athletes competing at next year's Paralympics in Tokyo and will be joined by a number of them.

Starting in Lumbrein in Val Lumnezia, Jeanrenaud will be accompanied by Paralympic wheelchair racing champion Marcel Hug, Para-alpine skier Elena Kratter and Para-badminton player Marc Elmer.

When he passes through Italian-speaking Switzerland, he will be greeted by the luge-monoski specialist Murat Pelit.

In Gstaad, Jeanrenaud is due to meet Para-Alpine skier and triple Paralmypic champion Théo Gmür.

Jeanrenaud will then finish his challenge in Montreux.

All proceeds are set to go to the Swiss Paralympic Committee.

"The priority is to help the athletes, especially in their preparation for the Paralympic Games," said Jeanrenaud.

"In Switzerland, Paralympic sport is not sufficiently promoted and publicised.

"They are high level athletes.

"They need the media, donors and sponsors."
