World Skate has announced a four-year agreement with the Mediapro Group, which is expected to develop and market the governing body’s international events.

World Skate say the agreement will help with the implementation, development and marketing of World Skate sporting events internationally.

Under the terms of the agreement, Mediapro will be responsible for the commercialisation of audiovisual rights across all 11 sporting disciplines run by World Skate.

The governing body claims the company’s extensive experience in content integration, production of sporting events and distribution of rights for major international events will provide an important boost.

"This is a very important year for our federation and we are very excited to have signed a new international agreement with Mediapro," said Sabatino Aracu, World Skate President.

"They have a significant global reach and will help us ensure that our major competitions are available to fans globally."

World Skate say they will work in partnership with Mediapro on the expansion, dissemination and international positioning of the competitions.

A focus will be placed on attracting younger audiences associated with disciplines such as scooter or skateboarding.

The latter is set to debut as an Olympic sport at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

"We are very proud of the trust that World Skate has placed in us," said Eugeni Sallent, Mediapro group director.

"The group's experience in organising and creating audiovisual events and managing sports rights will be key to projecting the value of its competitions."

Mediapro currently hold rights to production of 14 national soccer competitions around the world.

The company has also produced events for the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA World Cup, the FIFA Confederations Cup, the African Nations Cup, International Basketball Federation events, the EuroLeague and Formula One.

Mediapro was also the host broadcaster of the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.
