Australia's Edwina Tops-Alexander took charge of the Global Champions Tour (GCT) standings with a third-place finish in Valkenswaard, moving ahead of Sweden’s Peder Fredricson, who did not compete.

Tops-Alexander was second in the GCT standings entering the 10th leg of the 15-leg circuit at the state-of-the-art Tops International Arena, which was created by founder and president Jan Tops. 

The Australian rider overhauled a 10-point deficit to move 25 clear of Fredricson on 214.00.

The winner on the day in The Netherlands was Daniel Deusser of Germany, riding Bingo Ste Hermelle.

Deusser won an eight-person jump-off in a time of 44.66sec, clearing all jumps.

Riding Con Quidam Rb, Sanne Thijssen of The Netherlands finished second in a time of 46.28, with Tops-Alexander on Fellow Castlefield rounding out the podium in 48.21.


In the GCT standings, Deusser moved up to 22nd on 90.00, but more imporantly booked his place at the Super Grand Prix in Prague.

Thijssen now sits in joint 63rd.

Sergio Alvarez Moya of Spain is in third, just one point behind Fredricson.

France's Olivier Robert and Austria's Max Kühner round out the top five in the overall standings and are the only other riders within 50 points of Tops-Alexander.

The GCT continues next in Hamburg, from August 26 to August 29.

It comes to a climax at in Prague from November 18 to November 21. 

Each leg winner - or next highest-ranked athlete - will qualify for a place in the Super Grand Prix.
