There were 44 goals scored today at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2021 as both Group A and Group B were decided.

Hosts Russia, competing as RFU, dominated Japan 7-1 to nick top spot away from their opponents on goal difference.

A hattrick from Artur Paporotnyi put the Russians in a commanding position at the Luzhniki Beach Soccer Stadium while goalkeeper Maksim Chuzhkov also popped up with an unlikely goal.

Meanwhile Paraguay beat the United States in an entertaining game that finished 9-4.

The match was ultimately a dead rubber, however, as it was mathematically impossible for either side to qualify from the group having lost both of their opening games.

Tahiti managed to halt a comeback from Mozambique to win 8-7 in a thrilling fixture which resulted in the Tahitians topping Group B on goal difference.

A commanding performance from Heirauarii Salem led the team to victory as he bagged four goals.

Salem's side were undoubtedly aided by Nelson's sending off, even more so as he had scored a hattrick prior to the dismissal.

Spain confirmed its place in the knockout rounds following a closely fought 5-3 battle against the United Arab Emirates.

The Spaniards faced an early crisis as they were 2-0 down inside 10 minutes before recovering to triumph.

Tomorrow sees the last games of the group stages scheduled to take place.

Brazil play Belarus in Group C and Portugal face off with Uruguay in the ties of the day.

The losers will of both games will be eliminated while the winners will progress to the quarter-finals.
