South Korea won the Asian Handball Federation Asian Women’s Handball Championship after a 33-24 win over Japan.

Yura Jung scored 11 goals for South Korea as they won by nine points at the Princes Sumayah Sports Hall in Amman, Jordan.

Saki Takamiya scored six and Yuka Ishii netted five for Japan but they were unable to mount a second half comeback against their opponents.

In the contest for third place and the bronze medal Kazakhstan overcame Iran 38-33.

Two more tight contests decided other placings in the tournament today, with Uzbekistan edging out Hong Kong 28-25 to earn fifth place, while Jordan narrowly beat Syria 22-21.
