A new beach volleyball tournament, the Beach Pro Tour, is set to be launched in 2022 by Volleyball World and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The competition will be held at three levels: Elite16, Challenge and Futures.

The Elite16 format is the highest level and will feature the top 16 male and female teams.

It will be held in four pools of four teams over a four-day period.

Organisers have promised the "highest level of TV production, a fan area worthy of a festival and a sport presentation like no other".

The Challenge level tournament is a feeder to the Elite16 level events and includes 24 teams, with players battling to earn ranking points.

The competition format has 24 teams for both men and women in the main draw, with modified pool play followed by a single-elimination tournament over four to five days of competition for a total of 80 matches across men's and women's competition.

Futures is a feeder event to Challenge and allows cities to develop the sport in their countries.

It will also feature 16 male and female teams.

Each season ends with The Finals, showcasing the 10 best qualified teams.

Set to begin in 2022, the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour will replace the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
