The International Sambo Federation (FIAS) has signed a three-year partnership with CSCF Consulting, with both organisations aiming to eliminate match-fixing through developing an education programme for athletes and staff.

It is part of FIAS' aim to improve integrity in sambo, with the programme set to be available to the 116 National Federations of the governing body.

Over the next three years, there will be the development of action plans, events, training and programmes to create education resources informing personnel about sport manipulations.

"It is important to prepare the athletes to be able to stand up against manipulation in sport and to keep the sport clean, fair, and unpredictable," said FIAS chief executive Michal Buchel.

FIAS hopes to provide a better understanding of match-fixing through this programme and create a "safe environment" for athletes.

"I believe that education is the best way to have a better understanding of integrity issues especially manipulations in sports competitions," said Norbert Rubicsek, managing partner of CSCF Consulting.

FIAS has recently announced plans to also create a refugee sambo team to compete at major events.

Following the International Olympic Committee Session in Tokyo in July, the FIAS was one of six International Federations to be given full recognition.

The others were the International Federation of Muaythai Associations, International Cheer Union, World Lacrosse, World Association of Kickboxing Organisations and International Federation Icestocksport.
