The Opening Ceremony of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Men's World Boxing Championships is to be a "huge celebration of boxing", AIBA President Umar Kremlev has claimed.

The Championships are set to get underway on October 24 at the Štark Arena in Belgrade in Serbia.

More than 100 countries are expected to compete at the event, which was moved from Delhi to Belgrade after the Indian capital failed to pay a host fee stipulated in the Host City Agreement.

Kremlev says the Opening Ceremony, featuring artists including Romanian singer-songwriter Inna, trumpeter Dejan Petrović and rock band Van Gogh, will celebrate the sport.

"This will be a huge celebration of boxing," claimed Kremlev.

"We want to show the whole world how united and strong the boxing family is.

"This event will be a highlight of the year for men’s competitions.

"We are looking forward to seeing our top athletes competing for the title of world champion."

AIBA ambassadors former American professional boxer Roy Jones Jr, Serbian actor Milos Bikovic, French actor Saïd Taghmaoui, Italy's two-time AIBA World champion Roberto Cammarelle and German boxer Zeina Nassar will take part in the Ceremony.

Jones Jr said: "We want to show the whole world how united and strong the boxing family is.

"This event will be a highlight of the year for men’s competitions.

"We are looking forward to seeing our top athletes competing for the title of world champion."

Taghmaoui added: "I am so proud to be an ambassador of AIBA as a passionate fan of boxing for many years.

"I can’t wait to come to Serbia, to see exciting fights and new world champions crowned.

"It’s going to be a great event.

The AIBA Men's World Boxing Championships are set to take place from October 24 to November 6, with the women's equivalent planned for later this year.
