The top seed had lost to Denmark’s Anders Antonsen when they last meet in the event in 2019, but he gained revenge with a 21-17, 21-11 success.

It was a notable victory for Momota who sustained multiple laceration wounds to his face, a fractured nose and a broken eye socket in a car accident in January 2020 following the Malaysia Masters.

"I am so happy," said Momota.

"I’ve worked so hard for this victory.

"I was just trying to play my best in both games.

"I didn’t do anything else and I wasn’t rushing my shots.

"Doing my best got me there in the end.

"Antonsen is a very strong opponent.

"I really enjoyed the match.

"But I don’t think he enjoyed playing today."

South Korea’s An Se-young defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-17, 21-19 to win the women’s crown in Indonesia - her first title since the Gwangju Korea Masters in 2019.

"I feel really happy," said An.

"I made one or two mistakes, but I started to correct those unforced errors but I’m happy to win the title today."

Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan secured their first-ever win over top seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia.

They defeated the three-time defending champions 21-11, 17-21, 21-19.

Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida then made it a doubles double for Japan, beating South Koreans Jeong Na-eun and Kim Hye-jeong 21-9, 21-11.

Top seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai of Thailand won the mixed doubles final 21-11, 21-12 against Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet from Hing Kong.
