There was only one goal in the first 50 minutes, with Julie Gidske scoring late in the first period from a Kine Hedlund Eriksen assist to give Norway the lead against Singapore in Group D.

Gidske returned the favour for Eriksen for the second in the 52nd minute of the match, starting off a flurry of goals with less than 10 minutes to go.

Tone Einstulen and Sofie Kristiansen made it 4-0 minutes later, before Singapore's Tiffany Ong and Siti Nurhaliza Khairul Anuar pulled a couple back for the score to finish 4-2.

With a maximum six points, they are likely to face Latvia in the next round.

Like Group D, the top teams in Group C enter at the playoff round, unlike Groups A and B that receive byes to the quarter-finals due to their more difficult seeding.

Nina Suppa scored the only goal for Thailand in the same period.

Sorensen would score a hat-trick by the end and Fjorder got a second later in the match, while Cecilia Di Nardo, Mathilde Christensen and Victoria Wohlert added to the scoresheet.

The United States thrashed Italy 16-0 in Group C, starting with seven in the first period in which Selma Johansson, Michelle Linhart and Kajsa Krohn all scored two and Jenna Hausman also netted.

Krohn would complete her hat-trick in the second period and Johansson got hers late in the third too.
