Norway’s Gyda Westvold Hansen secured a second win in as many days at the women’s International Ski Federation Nordic Combined World Cup in Lillehammer.

Today’s event followed a similar pattern to yesterday as Westvold Hansen overhauled compatriot Mari Leinan Lund with a superb cross-country race to take the women’s title.

Leinan Lund once again led the way in the ski jumping, landing a jump of 97 metres to score 74 points as Westvold Hansen came second with 93m to notch 66 points.

Italy’s Annika Sieff held third spot with 86.5m with 53 points, leaving Lisa Hirner of Austria outside of the medal places at the halfway stage.

While Leinan Lund finished 20th in the cross-country race, Westvold Hansen crossed second to take gold with an overall time of 16mins 2.7secs.

Leinan Lund had to settle for silver, 52.6sec behind Westvold Hansen as Hirner climbed to third.

Following Westvold Hansen’s triumph, Norway then came out on top in the opening men’s team event.

The Norwegian team of Jarl Magnus Riiber, Jørgen Graabak, Jens Lurås Oftebro and Espen Bjørnstad were second after the ski jumping round before pipping Germany to the title in the cross-country race.

Vinzenz Geiger, Terence Weber, Manuel Faißt and Eric Frenzel put Germany into the lead with a score of 499.2 points in ski jumping as Norway came second with 483.7.

Norway then emerged victorious in the cross-country, securing a winning time of 52:56.1 – 5.3sec ahead of Germany.

Japan’s Akito Watabe, Yoshito Watabe, Ryota Yamamoto and Sora Yachi rose from fourth in ski jumping to take bronze, finishing 2:23.3 behind the Norwegians.
