Norwegian athletes Jarl Magnus Riiber and Gyda Westvold Hansen will be looking to continue their scintillating starts to the International Ski Federation's Nordic Combined World Cup season as the circuit heads to Estonia for back-to-back events in Otepää.

Riiber's victory on home ice in the men's competition in Lillehammer last weekend made it three wins from four for last year's overall World Cup leader, and he goes into the fifth event of the season with 300 points and a 28-point lead over Austria's Johannes Lamparter.

Lamparter placed second in each of the events won by Riiber.

Germany's Terence Weber, winner of the second World Cup in Ruka, occupies third with 196 points.

His compatriots Eric Frenzel and Jens Lurås Oftebro are 27 and 18 points shy of the podium respectively.

Mario Seidl of Austria is eighth overall but is currently ranked as the best jumper, with Finland's 16th placed Ilkka Herola the best skier.

The women's season began with two World Cups in Lillehammer last weekend, both won by Westvold Hansen for a maximum 200 points on the leaderboard.

Fellow Norwegian athlete Mari Leinan Lund is second with 160 after finishing second on both days, with Austria's Lisa Hirner third on 110 at this early stage of the nine-leg campaign.

Westvold Hansen also tops the best skier standings, while Lund holds the red bib as the best jumper.

Competition begins tomorrow at the Tehvandi Sports Centre with the men's and women's provisional competition round, followed by successive World Cups on Saturday (December 11) and Sunday (December 12).

Ski jumps will be held on the Gundersen Normal Hill HS97, with the Tehvandi Ski Stadium staging the men's 10 kilometres and women's 5km cross-country races.
