Egypt's top seed Ali Farag dropped just 13 points in total as he hammered Germany's Raphael Kandra 11-3, 11-6, 11-4.

He will face compatriot Youssef Soliman in the quarter-finals, after he defeated another Egyptian, Youssef Ibrahim in the only upset of the day.

Ibrahim, seeded eighth, lost in straight sets, 7-11. 8-11, 9-11.

Colombia's Miguel Rodriguez also secured easy passage into the quarter-finals.

The number five seed dispatched Egypt's Mohamed ElSherbini 12-10, 11-8, 11-8.

"When we played each other the first time, I was injured, but Mohamed is climbing the rankings and is a talented and skilful player," the Colombian said.

"I had to put my balls at the back of the court and work with my speed and move the ball around. 

"It worked, the first game was the key, but I kept it patient, was focused and I had a great performance."

In the final second-round match of the day, number three seed Mostafa Asal defeated Switzerland's Dimitri Steinmann 11-3, 11-4, 11-8 and will now face Rodriguez in the quarter-finals.

Competition continues tomorrow with the bottom half of the draw, including the number four, six and seven seeds.
