The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) has called for countries to submit hosting rights bids for partially sighted football continental championships in 2022.

The organisation is searching for hosts for events in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe with a deadline of February 28.

The tournaments will also act as qualifying competitions for the IBSA Partially Sighted Football World Championships in Birmingham.

The British city is set to host the tournament in August 2023 as part of the IBSA World Games.

Birmingham 2023 has been billed as "the biggest ever festival of football for people with a visual impairment" as both the men's and women's World Blind Football Championships are on the programme.

Provided they qualify, Ukraine will go into the tournament as defending champions, having defeated England 6-2 in the 2019 final in Turkey.

The Ukrainians are the most successful team in the tournament's history with four titles and one silver medal.

They have beaten England in the last two finals.

Belarus is the next best nation with three championships.

Italy has hosted the tournament twice, in Varese in 2002 and Cagliari in 2017, which is the most by any nation since the first edition in Paulínia in Brazil in 1998.

England, Argentina, Japan, South Korea and Turkey have also staged the event once each.
