Michal Geier, the 2019 World Para Ice Hockey Championship's most valuable player, headlines the Czech Republic's squad list for the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics.

Geier scored seven goals and made four assists as the Czechs reached the semi-finals of their home World Championship in Ostrava, and is one of 17 players who have made the team for next month's Games in the Chinese capital.

Goaltender Michal Vápenka is set to feature at his fifth Paralympics and his fourth in ice hockey, with Martin Kudela providing competition.

Pavel Kubeš, Radek Zelinka, Pavel Doležal, Karel Wagner and Jiří Raul have been selected as the team's defenders.

The nine forwards include Geier, alongside Zdeněk Hábl, David Palat, Zdeněk Krupička, Miroslav Novotny, Václav Hečko, Alex Ohar, Filip Veselý, Patrik Sedlacek, and Jan Frolik.

The Czech Republic placed sixth at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympics, after finishing fifth at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014.

They also finished fifth at last year's World Championship, which was also held in Ostrava.

The Para ice hockey competition at Beijing 2022 is due to be held from March 5 to 13 at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium, with eight teams divided into two groups of four.

The Czech Republic have been pitted against hosts China, Italy and Slovakia in Group B.

The United States earned gold four years ago, beating Canada in the final.
