Appliance care company Domestic & General (D&G) has been appointed as the official warranty provider for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The company will be supporting the Birmingham 2022 Gen22 programme which hopes to provide young people from the Midlands with employability boosting opportunities.

"We are proud to be sponsoring the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games," said Matthew Crummack, chief executive of D&G.

"This opportunity allows us to continue with our ongoing support of the region and enables us to help contribute towards a lasting legacy, particularly through the work with Gen22."

D&G is set to offer Gen22 participants the chance to volunteer and undertake work experience within the business with the provision of workplace training, which includes CV writing, communication and digital skills, totalling 30 hours for each individual.

D&G has also claimed that it is committed to supporting the Games' aim to be the first sporting event to be carbon neutral.

"We are delighted to be welcoming Domestic & General as an official sponsor of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games," said David Grady, chief finance officer at Birmingham 2022.

"D&G are a huge supporter of the West Midlands and the communities living here.

"We are aligned in our vision to empower and celebrate the next generation in Birmingham and across the region this year and in the future."

With the partnership, D&G hope to take advantage of the one million spectators and 1.5 billion television audience that the event is expected to attract.
