The Big White Ski Resort in Canada is set to stage the final Para Snowboard World Cup event of the season as the overall Crystal Globe winners will be decided in three men's and three women's events.

Approximately 50 athletes from seven nations will compete in the fifth stop of the series, due to begin tomorrow and conclude on Saturday (February 12) at the resort which last hosted a World Cup back in 2019.

Keith Gabel of the United States currently leads the men's SB-LL2 category, but the two-time Paralympic medallist will not compete in Big White.

Therefore, Gabel's compatriot Evan Strong and Australia's Ben Hope will likely battle it out for the crown.

Strong is 410 points ahead of Tudhope but with 1000 points awarded for a victory, it is all to play for.

Strong comes to Canada after winning bronze at the Lillehammer 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships in snowboard cross.

Tudhope won silver in the same competition as well as a bronze in the banked slalom.

The 22-year-old from Sydney is in fine form having won two snowboard cross races at the Klövsjö World Cup in Sweden last month.

Jacopo Luchini has already secured the Crystal Globe in the men's SB-UL with a huge gap of 3,230 points ahead of fellow Italian Mirko Moro.

Luchini is coming off a double victory in Klövsjö and a banked slalom silver medal in Lillehammer.

None of the leading athletes in all three women's categories are due to compete in Canada as the 2022 Paralympics in Beijing loom.

Spain's Irati Idiakez Lopez will defend her title in the SB-UL category ahead of Poland's Monika Kotzian.

Brenna Huckaby of the US celebrates her first overall title since 2018 in the SB-LL1 with French five-time world champion Cecile Hernandez in second place.

Another five-time world champion, Lisa Bunschoten of The Netherlands, has secured her fourth-straight Crystal Globe in the SB-LL2, with compatriot Renske van Beek currently occupying second.

Van Beek can still lose second place to the USA’s Brittani Coury and Canada’s Lisa Dejong.
