Kokomo Murase of Japan and Luke Winkelmann of the United States have won the women's and men's slopestyle qualifications at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup in Špindlerův Mlýn in the Czech Republic.

This weekend's event, the Audi Snowjam, which is back for the first time in five years, is the penultimate date of the FIS Snowboard World Cup season.

The event, which is the sole date in the Czech Republic on the calendar, features riders including the current joint leader in the women's Slopestyle Snowboard World Cup standings in Murase.

Murase’s win in the qualifying round today with a score of 94.50 will place her in good stead to secure her second crystal globe of the season.

However, she will still need to fend off The Netherlands Melissa Peperkamp in the women’s slopestyle final, scheduled for tomorrow.

Murase will only need to secure a fourth-place finish to see off Canada’s Laurie Blouin and take the overall title.

Peperkamp was second in qualifying today with a score of 72.50, with Ariane Burri of Switzerland in third with 69.00.

Elsewhere, Winkelmann came first in the men’s slopestyle qualifying round, with a score of 90.00.

His compatriot Dusty Henrickson finished second with a score of 85.00, with Sven Thorgren of Sweden in third place on 87.66.

Winkelmann's victory in qualification was aided by a number of absences in the men’s competition.

Germany’s Leon Vockensperger currently leads the slopestyle standings with 182 points but he, along with the other top six riders are not competing in Špindlerův Mlýn.

Men's finals are also scheduled to take place tomorrow.
