The Swiss beat a depleted Japan team 11-3 in the morning before taking down Germany 7-6 to complete a faultless group stage in the CN Centre.

Japan only played with three players due to numerous positive cases of COVID-19 within their delegation, and later in the day forfeited their final match against South Korea.

After Switzerland led the match 2-1 after two ends, an umpire’s measure handed the reigning title holders five points in the third thanks to two perfect take-outs by fourth Alina Pätz.

The Swiss stole another three in the fourth before Japan responded by adding two to their score in the fifth.

Following the half-time break, Switzerland scored one in the sixth to convince the Japanese to throw in the towel.

Germany gave the champions a much sterner test.

The score was level at 2-2 after the third and the Germans were leading 5-4 following the seventh.

Pätz produced a hit in the next end to flip the score 6-5 in the Swiss’ favour.

Germany scored a point in the ninth to tie the match.

With the last stone of the game, Switzerland ensured the win to complete 12 consecutive victories at the tournament.

South Korea, who secured qualification after Japan forfeited their match after several COVID-19 cases, beat Turkey 10-2.

They finished second in the standings with a record of nine wins and three losses.

Canada and Sweden finished third and fourth, respectively, with the same win to loss ratio.

Canada beat Germany 8-5 as well as overcoming Czech Republic 9-6.

Sweden skip Anna Hasselborg led her team to a 6-3 victory against Norway.

"That was a really good win, maybe we felt a little tired when we lost last night, so to go out there and have a great game after a long 10-hour sleep, it was such a good win, and we take a lot of good things from it," Hasselborg said after the match.

The Swedes will play fifth place United States, who defeated Denmark 9-5 to go alongside their did not finish (DNF) win against Scotland, in the semi-final qualification game.

Scotland forfeited the competition two days in due to multiple COVID-19 cases among their squad.

They did not record a win.

Meanwhile, Denmark will play Canada after they beat Norway 11-4 and ended with a final record of seven wins and five losses.

Following their DNF, Japan ended the tournament in seventh with six wins and six losses.

Norway and Germany finished with records of five wins and seven losses.

Despite coming 10th after recording eight defeats, the Italians ended on a high by beating Czech Republic 7-3.

Turkey, who received a DNF victory against Scotland, and the Czech Republic, finished 11th and 12th with two wins and 10 losses.
