Alexandre Cassin of France secured a 13-11, 11-7, 11-9 victory over Jon Persson of Sweden in the men's singles round of 48 match in the WTT Star Contender at the Lusail Sports Arena. 

China's Yuan Licen, who has secured victory in every qualifying round, including a thrilling 13-11, 6-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-5 win against Portuguese João Geraldo yesterday eased past Ahmad Khalil Al-Mohannadi of Qatar today.  

Licen beat Al-Mohannadi 11-4, 11-9, 11-4 in straight games.  

Choi Hyojoo of Republic of Korea beat Hungarian Georgina Póta in a thrilling 10-12, 5-11, 14-12, 11-8, 21-19 encounter. 

Lubomír Jančařík of Czech Republic failed to defeat Jonathan Groth of Denmark in round of 48. 

Groth triumphed against Jančařík with a 11-5, 3-11, 11-4, 11-5 scoreline. 

The mixed doubles competition saw Dang Qiu and Nina Mittelham of Germany knock out Hong Kong's Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem 3-1. 

Romania’s Ovidiu Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs defeated German opponents Patrick Franziska and Petrissa Solja 9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7. 

The competition is scheduled to run until next Thursday (March 31).
