A strong American team is expected to lead the way as Indianapolis hosts the final Para Swimming World Series event of the 2022 season.

Twenty-nine-time Paralympic gold medallist Jessica Long headlines the host nation's team, which is expected to number around 80 athletes.

Long won gold medals in the women's SM8 200 metres individual medley, S8 100m butterfly and 4x100m medley relay 34 points at Tokyo 2020.

Long has won 16 Paralympic gold medals in all across five Games.

Tokyo 2020 gold medalists Gia Pergolini, Anastasia Pagonis, Morgan Stickney, McKenzie Coan, Mallory Weggemann, Hannah Aspden and Mikaela Jenkins are also due to compete for the United States.

New Zealand's Tupou Neiufi is another Tokyo 2020 champion set to compete, so too Alberto Abarza from Chile and Mexican duo Diego Lopez Diaz and Arnulfo Castorena.

Roughly 150 athletes from 15 countries are expected to swim at the Indiana University Natatorium.

Three days of racing is due to begin tomorrow.

Four Para Swimming World Series legs have already taken place this year, in Aberdeen, Melbourne, Lignano Sabbiadoro and Berlin.
