Resztan made it into the under-48kg quarter-finals, winning unanimously against Madoka Wada from Japan.

One of the standouts in the category has been Tayonis Cadeno Rojas, with the Venezuelan progressing by the same score against Nyamsuren Janchiv from Mongolia.

Hanna Okhota was made to work a little harder for her victory in Ring B, with the Ukrainian winning a 3-2 split decision, doing enough to hold off Yasmine Mouttaki from Morocco.

Kazakhstan's Alua Balkibekova is through too with a unanimous victory over Serbian Snezana Siljkovic.

Turkey's other win came from Işıldar by a narrow 3-2 split decision in the under-75kg category against Viviane Pereira of Brazil.

She faces Panama's Atheyna Bylon who won by a 4-0 split decision despite hammering Polish boxer Agata Kaczmarska.

Two deducted points flattered the score. 

Mozambique booked a spot in the next round too after Rady Gramane defeated South Korea's Seon Su-yeon in a lively fight that also ended 3-2. 

Ireland's Michaela Walsh put herself down as one of the contenders for the gold medal with a 3-2 split decision win over Ukrainian Valeriia Yeroshenko in the under-57kg round of 16.

She faces Kazakhstan's Karina Ibragimova next who won unanimously against Spanish boxer Jennifer Fernandez Romero.

Brazil's Jucielen Romeu won on the same side of the bracket by a 3-2 split against fellow South American Yeni Marcela Arias of Colombia, and now faces Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu-Ting after a unanimous victory over South Korean Im Ae-ji.

Other winners in the category included Namuun Monkhor from Mongolia who ended the run of Venezuela's Johana Gomez by a 4-1 split.

India's Manisha won by the same margin against Svetlana Kamenova Staneva of Bulgaria.
