Olympic gold medallist Malin Baryard-Johnsson has won equestrian’s Global Champions Tour event at Ramatuelle in St Tropez as Pieter Devos takes the overall ranking lead.

Sweden’s Baryard-Johnsson timed at a spectacular 34.71 seconds with H&M Indiana around the course to finish the competition on top of the podium.

The Netherlands’ Harrie Smolders, riding with Monaco, recorded 35.09 secs to end the tournament as her closest challenger.

Spencer Smith of the United States completed the podium thanks to his work with Theodore Manciais, where they partnered to clock 35.35 secs.

Three Belgians - Abdel Saïd, Jérôme Guery and Devos - followed the podium-clinchers.

Saïd saddled Bandit Savoie and they completed their run in 35.62 secs.

Guery trailed on 36.08 and Devos missed out on the top five after timing at 36.77 secs.

However, Devos’ work was enough for him to return to the top of the overall standings.

He is on 110 points for the season while compatriot Gilles Thomas is nine points off.

German pair Ludger Beerbaum and Christian Kukuk are 11 points off the leader.

The next Global Champions Tour event is scheduled to take place on May 28.
