The Tajikistan National Teqball Federation hosted a national competition in Tursunzoda, in the west of the country, to further teqball's development and highlight its growth.

The event saw three tournaments played out in men's, women's and mixed doubles categories with nine, six and three teams competing, respectively.

Shohimardon Zaripov and Shohzodjon Sobriov took first place in men’s doubles, Madina Fozilova and Nigora Yusupova were the women’s doubles winners, with Azamat Mukumov and Shakhzoda Tadzhibaeva the victors in mixed doubles.

The National Federation is determined to extend teqball's reach within the country and are looking to invest in additional equipment.

"Teqball was originally introduced to Tajikistan by the National Federation President and secretary general of the Tajikistan National Olympic Committee, Muhamadsho Abdullozoda, who saw value and promise in the unifying power of the sport," read an International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) statement.

"The National Federation is aiming for further development, with teq tables introduced to schools and public spaces to facilitate growth and to nurture the next generation of teqers."

FITEQ is committed to driving the sport's growth in as many countries as possible.

The governing body claims that teqball is the fastest sport in the world and has ambitions to feature in "all multi-sport events on an international level".

It is set to feature at next year's European Games in Kraków and Małopolska as a medal event and is currently scheduled to feature at the 2022 Mediterranean Games and the 2023 African Games as a demonstration event.
