Spaniard Roberto Bautista-Agut has become the third member of the men’s singles draw to pull out of this year’s Wimbledon Championships due to coronavirus.

Bautista-Agut was due to face Colombia’s Daniel Galan in the second round today but withdrew after a positive test.

In a post on Instagram Bautista-Agut wrote: "Sadly today I have notified the organisation of Wimbledon of my withdrawal from the competition.

"Yesterday I started feeling not very well and I tested positive for COVID-19.

"Symptoms are not very serious but I think this is the best decision.

"Thank you for all your support always. I hope to be back on court soon."

Bautista-Agut follows 2014 US Open champion Marin Čilić of Croatia and last year’s Wimbledon runner-up, Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, in having to withdraw from the tournament due to a positive COVID test.

In response to the positive tests, Wimbledon have brought in additional measures against the virus, as reported by The Daily Express.

These include increased cleaning around the grounds "in high traffic touch points, enhanced ventilation and provision of more hand sanitiser stations."

Players are also required to wear masks for any medical consultations that take place indoors.
