The International University Sports Federation (FISU) Acting President Leonz Eder has praised an "an excellent and highly productive" site visit to North Carolina.

The North Carolina Bid Committee (NCBC) hosted the FISU Evaluation Committee as they are planning to bid for the 2027 World University Games.

North Carolina is competing with Chungcheong Megacity in Korea for the 2027 FISU Games and will be centred around the Triangle and Greensboro region.

FISU is set to announce the hosts on November 12 2022.

"The North Carolina Bid Committee showed us their outstanding sports competition and training venues and their excellent Games Village sites," Eder said.

"University sports belong to the universities and to go back on these North Carolina university campuses with this event is inspiring."

The FISU Evaluation Committee consisted of Eder, vice-president Marian Dymalski, secretary general Eric Saintrond and Jing Zhao, director of FISU Summer Games department.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper presented the official North Carolina Bid Book for the Games to Eder.

"We have been thrilled to host the top leadership at FISU this week on their FISU evaluation site visit as an important part of the bid process for the 2027 FISU World University Games," said Hill Carrow, chairman and chief executive of NCBC.

"The site visit has provided us with the opportunity to showcase North Carolina’s capacity and capabilities for delivering an incredible FISU Games in 2027."
