The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Powerlifting and Benchpress World Championships are due to begin at the Pharos University in Alexandria in Egypt tomorrow.

Athletes were originally scheduled to travel to Azerbaijani capital Baku, but the host city was changed in March.

A technical meeting and referee meeting have already been held in preparation for competition, which is scheduled to run until October 6.

All of the women weight classes are expected to be held on the first day of competition.

The event is due to close with divisions between the men's under-90kg and over-125kg being held.

Last year's Powerlifting and Benchpress World Championships were staged in Tbilisi in Georgia.
