The International Esports Federation (IESF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with artificial intelligence technology company Sidewalk Entertainment, with the two organisations working together on promoting esports which focuses on the physical movement of athletes.

They are to use K-Pop dance social platform STEPIN that uses real-time motion-tracking artificial intelligence (AI) technology created by Sidewalk.

This project looks to combine esports and dancing, with all users able to see their movements through an on-screen skeletal form.

One of the aims is to capitalise on the popularity of the K-Pop music genre on STEPIN, which is to be launched in November.

Both parties are set to partner on a special activity using STEPIN at the IESF World Esports Championships Finals, scheduled to be held in Bali from December 6 to 10.

It will also help to look into new esports developments, looking to combine dancing and interactive social media experiences as well as international STEPIN tournaments.

"IESF is thrilled to work together with Sidewalk Entertainment to bring something new to the esports ecosystem," said IESF secretary general Boban Totovski.

"We are pleased to be taking part in a new digital content culture of K-Pop dance and working towards our mission of serving as an exchange platform and network for esports stakeholders and securing valuable partnerships within the world esports family."

Sidewalk Entertainment is an AI technology company based in South Korea's capital Seoul.
