Ukraine claimed the 25 metres rapid fire pistol mixed team title as action continued at the World Shooting Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

In the day’s senior final, the country’s duo of Yulia Korostylova and Maksym Horodynets claimed gold with 16 points.

They defeated Indian pair Simranpreet Kaur Brar and Anish Anish, who finished in second on 14 points.

Korostylova won air pistol gold at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, and is a double European gold medallist, including in the 25m rapid fire pistol mixed team event at Osijek in 2021.

Horodynets, meanwhile, won a silver medal at the World Cup event in Baku, Azerbaijan, this year in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team competition.

Bronze medals went to South Korean duo Jangmi Kim and Seojun Kim who ran out comfortable 17-11 victors against Czech Republic pairing Anna Dedova and Martin Podhransky.

The day’s other final came in the women’s junior 10m air pistol category, with gold going to China’s Siyu Wang, who beat compatriot Nan Zhao 16-6.

One senior final is scheduled to take place tomorrow in the women’s 50m rifle three positions, alongside three junior finals.
