More than 360 athletes arrived in the South Korean capital to compete at this World DanceSport Federation event in one-versus-one battles at the SK Handball Olympic Stadium.

The 28-year-old Floridian Victor is regarded as one of the best breaking competitors ever.

He won gold at the Birmingham 2022 World Games in Alabama after overcoming Jeffro 3-1 in an all-American final.

Jeffro also qualified today for the round of 3 in a sport that will make its Olympic debut at Paris 2024 , as did Shigekix of Japan.

Shigekix, who won bronze at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires where breaking made its debut, finished the round of 64 in second place.

Meanwhile last year's runner-up to Victor, Canada's Phil Wizard, is just one place behind him.

Ayumi is one of multiple Japanese b-girls who've made it to the last 32.

They include the World Games champion Ami and Youth Olympic gold medallist Ram - with Ami qualifying for the last 32 as the second-ranked b-girl.

The home fans also have something to cheer, with South Korea's b-girl Yell - who won bronze in Buenos Aires in 2018 behind Ram - making it through in 22^nd place.

However, the respective top seeds entering the top 32 are b-boy Dany and b-girl Kimie, both of France.

European hopes are also being carried by Germany's Jilou, who picked up bronze at the 2021 and 2019 editions of the World Championships and Paris 2024 French hopeful Sarah Bee.

China's b-girls Liu Qingyi and Guo Pu, and b-boy Shang Xiaoyu, also progressed.

Next year's World Championships are set to act as a qualification event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
