The Chilean Olympic Committee (COCH) Women in Sports Commission has held its second Women in Sports Workshop, which was attended by officials from 22 National Federations.

The chair of the Commission Patricia López took part in the event alongside fellow COCH directors Leslie Cooper and Luis Alberto Santa Cruz, general manager Loreto Santa Cruz and treasurer Rodrigo Moreno.

López underlined the significance of staging the workshop.

"For the Olympic Committee it is very important to have this type of activity, since it allows us to learn about the different problems that women in sport have, both as leaders, professionals or athletes," she said.

"Our goal is to draw different conclusions and move forward with concrete solutions in the short term."

The second edition of the workshop analysed participation of women in sports leadership, management, judges, recruitment and athletes perspectives.

Next year's Pan American Games, set to be held in Chile for the first time in its capital Santiago from October 20 to November 5, was identified as a key opportunity to capitalise on showcasing federations' forthcoming activities related to women in sport.

The first COCH Women in Sport workshop was held in May.

Chile has not won an Olympic medal since Beijing 2008.
