Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin secured singles golds in two all-Chinese finals at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions event in Macao.

Wang emerged victorious over world number one Fan Zhedong 11-5, 12-14, 12-10, 8-11, 11-1, 9-11, 11-8, to lift the men's trophy on the final day of play at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.

In the deciding game, it was crucial that Wang started well after losing a 3-2 lead, and he did exactly that by claiming the opening six points.

Fan offered resistance and saved three match points but eventually his defence broke down and Wang clinched the win.

The result marks Wang's second title of the year following his triumph at the WTT Star Contender European Summer Series.

Wang was awarded 1000 ranking points for his victory which sees him rise to a personal high of seventh in the world.

"Today's match was really intense," said Wang.

"I feel really lucky in Macao because I have achieved good results here.

"Thank you to all the fans for supporting us."

In the women's event, 21-year-old Sun lived up to expectations as top seed by dispatching Chen Xingtong 12-10, 11-8, 5-11, 11-6, 12-10 to land her first singles title of the year.

Chen put up a good fight in each game but ultimately did not have the killer instinct to see out the close contests.

As a result, Sun extends her lead at the top of the world rankings as she now has 6,770 points in total.

"I am very happy to win this match," said Sun.

"I am very familiar with my opponent as we are both from the Chinese team.

"We train a lot and I've played her a lot.

"Both of us have performed equally well today, and maybe I'm a little lucky to win."

Athletes now have four days to prepare for the WTT Cup Finals, due to be held in Xinxiang, China, from October 27 to 30.
