Defending men’s champions Iran won their second match of the Sitting Volleyball World Championships on day two of the tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Iran earned a second successive victory in straight sets at the Hotel Hills Arena as they beat Kazakhstan 25-12, 25-18, 25-7.

The United States defeated hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina in the final game of the day 25-17, 25-13, 24-26, 25-21.

Two matches went the full five-set distance, with The Netherlands edging past Rwanda 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 15-11, and Brazil overcoming Germany 23-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-18, 15-10.

Elsewhere in the men’s event there were victories for Serbia, Iraq, Canada and Egypt.

In the women’s competition, Rwanda recorded their second successive win by defeating hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina 25-10, 25-9, 25-9.

Three matches went to four sets, including Finland coming from a set behind to overhaul Germany 23-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.

Slovenia overcame Iran 25-21, 27-25, 20-25, 25-16 while Canada defeated Slovenia 25-18, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22.

Elsewhere, there were straight sets victories for Brazil, Ukraine and Italy.

Round-robin action is due to continue tomorrow.
