Hangzhou 2022 has unveiled a digital Torchbearer programme for the build-up to the Asian Games, celebrating 300 days until the Opening Ceremony of the event.

The Asian Games Digital Human Platform has been created on the Organising Committee's website, featuring the Torchbearers.

Husain Al-Musallam, director-general of the Olympic Council of Asia, delivered a video speech, calling for all to become the "Asian Games digital Torchbearer."

It uses the digital identity of real users in a digital world, aiming to get people involved in the Games.

People can access the digital sphere through the Smart Asian Games Pass, which helps them become a digital Torchbearer.

After becoming a Torchbearer, they can own a personalised digital image in the same clothes of the Hangzhou 2022 carrier.

It has also launched the activity "Running Towards 2022 to Strive for Becoming the Asian Games Torchbearer", a step accumulator from daily walking and running which gives the public a chance of becoming part of the Torch Relay.

So far, 600,000 users have completed 64 routes across 19 stations.

The postponed Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games are now scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8 2023, after being moved back a year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
