KOC President Ismet Krasniqi called for cases of abuse not to be hidden in the future and expressed his and the Executive Board's full support in fighting and preventing abuses.

UN Women Coordinator Arnhild Spence praised the hosting of the event which took place in the form of a panel discussion.

Panellists at the forum included Daulina Osmani, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS), Edi Gusia, chief executive of the Agency for Gender Equality, Afërdita Fazlija, deputy director of the sports department at the MCYS, Naser Krasniqi, director of the girls' national volleyball team, Bardha Uka, director of the Dem Sport organisation, mounaineer Mrika Nikçi and Ulpiana Emra, a former basketball player and now sports journalist.

Together they discussed recommendations on how to prevent abuse in sport and what the best ways to report a case are.

The KOC was established in 1992 but was not recognised by the International Olympic Committee until December 2014.

Krasniqi is the organisation's third President and succeeded Besim Hasani who was pivotal in earning IOC recognition during his 24-year reign from May 1996 to March 2021.

Veton Surroi was the first in office and he served for exactly four years between 1992 and 1996.
