Johannes Thingnes Bø continued his golden start to the International Biathlon Union (IBU) World Cup season with victory in the men’s 10 kilometres sprint in Hochfilzen, Austria.

The Norwegian won the men’s 12.5km pursuit and 10km sprint in Kontiolahti, Finland, last week and picked up where he left off to claim a third successive win this season.

Bø, who won four gold medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, produced a dominant display at Hochfilzen, a venue where he already has seven victories.

He led at every split, except the 1.6km mark, and shot clean as he won in 23min 04sec.

Emilien Jacquelin of France finished in second place, 43 seconds adrift, with a single penalty.

Bø’s Norwegian compatriot Sturla Holm Laegreid finished in third place, 46.9 seconds behind, also with a penalty.

"My focus was to catch a good speed, but I felt in the warmup that the snow was quite dry and it would be not so fast as the women’s race," said Bø, following his victory.

"It gave me a little bit more respect for the track and I found a good speed."

On shooting clean Bø added: "It feels so good afterwards."

Action is scheduled to continue in Hochfilzen tomorrow with two more events, the women’s 10km pursuit and the men’s 4x7.5km relay.
