The International Swimming Federation (FINA) Artistic Swimming World Cup will travel to new or unfamiliar venues next year, with the venue and date of the concluding Super Final yet to be decided.

The seventh edition, which will build towards the flagship event of the World Championships in Fukuoka, from July 14 to 30, will start at Markham in Canada, which will be hosting the series for the first time, from March 16 to 18.

Egypt's capital Cairo, which last hosted a FINA Artistic Swimming World Cup event in 1987, will stage the second leg from April 28 to 30, and another new host, Montpellier in France, will stage the third event from May 5 to 7.

Six-time FINA Artistic Swimming World Series gold medallist Kenzie Priddell of Canada expressed delight upon hearing that Markham had been selected as host of the 2023 opener.

"I am very excited to start off our competition season here in Canada," Priddell said.

"Our entire team is very much looking forward to experiencing the new scoring system that will be used internationally for the first time in Markham.

"It will be so special to perform in front of our family and friends and have the support of the home crowd cheering us on."

Three-time FINA World Championship competitor Eve Planeix of France welcomed the artistic swimming world back to her home country, Paris having hosted the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series five times from 2017-2022.

"It’s a huge pleasure to experience this wonderful event by your side," she said.

"We are very much looking forward to sharing our sport's values."

Following the performances from the three opening FINA Artistic Swimming World Cup events, the top 12 in each event category will qualify for the Super Final at a date and location that FINA will announce later.
