Twenty-five student-athletes have been selected to represent Australia at Lake Placid 2023 World University Games, including several with Olympic experience.

Athletes have been picked in seven disciplines, with the Australian delegation at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) event to be led by Chef de Mission Ian Fitzpatrick.

Curler Tahli Gill, cross-country skier Seve de Campo and Alpine skiing's Katie Parker are all due to represent Australia having done the same at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics earlier this year.

"UniSport are proud to have such a high-quality group of student-athletes participating at the Lake Placid 2023 World University Games," UniSport Australia's chief executive Mark Sinderberry said.

"It was disappointing for the athletes to have the Lucerne 2021 edition cancelled, so we are extremely excited to see the UniRoos back in action and in numbers that we haven’t seen in this event before."

Gill is in the women's curling team alongside sisters Kirby and Jayna, Ivy Militano and Joanne Robins.

Cross-country skiing is the area where Australia will be best represented, with nine athletes picked.

Three biathletes, four Alpine skiers, two snowboarders, ski cross' Alfred Wenk and figure skater Romy Grogan complete Australia's compliment of 25 athletes.

Fitzpatrick, who was also Chef de Mission at the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade, leads a team of 10 support staff.

The Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games is due to run from January 12 to 22.
