The Global Esports Federation (GEF) has announced a partnership with Riyadh-based VOV Gaming as a global supporter for the organisation.

VOV Gaming, subsidiary of Saudi Arabian esports and gaming company Savvy Games Group, was founded to focus on communities and initiatives in esports, has an aim of establishing the Community Gaming Council at the GEF.

Both parties will look to "enable community-to-community gaming competition" in the GEF.

"We are excited to welcome VOV Gaming to the Global Esports Federation family," said GEF chief executive Paul J Foster.

"We look forward to working together to rally the community and grassroots into our #worldconnected ecosystem through active and sustained engagement."

As well as launching the Community Gaming Council, the partnership also looks to activate international venue-to-venue competitions, as well as a way to improve the health and welfare as part of its Performance+ wellness initiative, which is supported by Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Earlier this year, VOV also joined forces with English football club Newcastle United to help the club build its esports presence within the Saudi Arabian market.

"VOV is proud to join the Global Esports Federation to harness the endless possibilities and realise the potential of gamers and esports athletes worldwide by offering global platforms for them to compete, learn, and socialise," Gomez said.

"We will work together with the GEF and its Member Federations to bring physical esports and events to communities including at VOV’s unique venues."
