Kipyokei, who won the women's race at the 2021 Boston Marathon, tested positive for triamcinolone acetonide, which reduces weight and increases strength and endurance.

This has been found in several Kenyan runners.

The 28-year-old has been provisionally suspended since October and her agent Gianni Demadonna soon after alleged that she was guilty.

She was further charged with tampering with doping control by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for false information or documentation".

Found guilty on both charges, Kipyokei's career will effectively end due to a six-year suspension, starting from June 27 2022.

Her results have been disqualified from October 11 2021, meaning two-time world champion and compatriot Edna Kiplagat secured her second title in the American city.

Kipyokei said she visited a doctor in September 2021 who gave her cortisone injections into her Achilles tendon, which the AIU said was not triamcinolone acetonide.

She retorted by saying the doctor had given her "a cortisone" injection, stating it must have been the flagged banned substance. 

When asked to provide doctor's evidence, the runner than paid doctor David Njenga 20,000 Kenyan schillings (£134/$159/€150) to falsify documents, which were later found to be false.

Compatriot Betty Wilson Lempus - who has the same agent - remains provisionally suspended for testing positive for the same substance, adding to the existing charge from the AIU of tampering.

Rionoripo has been given a five-year ban starting from November 21 2022 for the presence of banned substance furosemide, as well as tampering.

All her results from May 30 onwards have been disqualified. 

She won the Paris Marathon in 2017 ahead of compatriot Agnes Barsosio.

Furosemide is seen as a masking agent.

She claimed she had a prescription for the drug lasix which contains the substance, but this was found to be manipulated, thus leading to the tampering charge.

Rionoripo was also a junior world cross country team champion with Kenya.
