The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Council in October maintained the ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes for their nations' involvement in the invasion of Ukraine, meaning participation was not allowed in 2022-2023.

Speaking to Russia's official state news agency TASS, Dubrovsky hopes this will not be repeated.

"Of course, first of all, our expectations are related to the fact that the suspension from international competitions from at least the next winter season 2023-2024 will end, we sincerely want this, we hope and will do our best to painlessly go out after the missed season and prove their roles at the World Cup in both men's and women's jumps," said Dubrovsky.

"We have leaders in both men and women.

"At the time of our temporary suspension, the representation of our athletes at international competitions was actually with maximum quotas, so the most important thing is that we maintain that motivation, that tone. 

"Even those moments of a technical and physical nature in which we lagged behind, we tried to compensate during this time and become even stronger."

FIS secretary general Michel Vion recently admitted he made a mistake over comments about the absence of Russia, staunchly opposing the decision of the Norwegian Ski Federation to not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing in their country if the ban was lifted.

The Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation of Russia is planning to host a ski jumping competition with allied nations in March, called the Copper Mountain Cup.
