World Armwrestling Federation referee Husseini Akuetteh Addy took trainees through the rules and regulations of the sport, while other sections focused on the table recording stage where officials are taken through the scoring system.

GAF vice-president Kofi Addo Agyekum said this training was to prevent issues at the Games and other major tournaments occurring. 

"Armwrestling becomes a very special sport for people to enjoy, so now the athletes would be well trained and they know what to do, you would minimise injuries because there is knowledge and the technique you should know so that there would be minimum fouls for the sport to be played very well," said Agyekum to GNA Sports.

He said the GAF are to hold a competition as a test event prior to the Games taking place in Accra.

GAF and African Armwrestling Federation President Charles Osei-Asibey recommended these training sessions be extended to the continent to ensure future competitions are to the highest quality.

Arm wrestling is one of 25 sports on the programme for the Games, which is to take place from August 4 to 19 2023.
