Officials in Veneto, which will co-host the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, have prepared a study on accessibility and inclusiveness with the forthcoming event in mind.

Luca Zaia, the President of the region - which includes the resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo - has announced the establishment of a working group made up of qualified technicians and support officials, as reported by ansa.it

It will have the task, together with a specialised company, of developing and analysing universal accessibility and inclusion in the Venetian cities that will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Veneto responded extremely quickly, setting to work to define strategies and guidelines that can be taken as a model," Zaia said.

"Sport teaches us to team up, committing ourselves to a common goal - in this case the goal is allow everyone to enjoy a unique event in the world, in equal measure."

The study will focus on the main sporting events that will be held in Cortina in the 2022-2023 season such as the International Ski and Snowboard Federation Alpine Ski World Cup from January 28 to 29, and a Para-snowboarding event.

This data will enable those running the study to define the guidelines and implementation criteria representing the best practices applicable in the context of the 2026 Olympics.

This initiative will be aimed at promoting inclusiveness with respect to participation in events and everyday life, with particular reference to the issue of accessibility, so that all participants are guaranteed the possibility of using the same services and opportunities, eliminating any obstacles.

The region will collaborate with the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, the Cortina Foundation, the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Milano Cortina 2020-2026 Infrastructure Company and its Commissioner Structure.
