Brignone was victorious on the first of the super-G legs in front of the Swiss pair of Joana Hählen and Gut-Behrami.

Today, Gut-Behrami's time of 1min 17.26sec was 0.15sec in front of Brignone for the gold and her 36th FIS Alpine Ski World Cup career win.

Marta Bassino finished with the bronze for her third super-G World Cup podium, 0.19 behind the winner.

Notably, one of her other super-G medals was won in St. Anton two years ago.

Elena Curtoni was a third Italian in a row, placing fourth; with Ramona Siebenhofer from Austria completing the top five.

Despite the victory - which puts the Swiss skier joint eighth on the all-time women's Alpine Ski World Cup winning list with Germany's Katja Seizinger - Gut-Behrami suggested she could have performed better.

"It didn't really go as planned," admitted the Olympic and world champion.

"St. Anton is a tough race, it's a really interesting slope.

"On the flat part I made a lot of mistakes and I never expected to be that fast.

"The last part I tried to ski clean and let the ski go. 

"I'm not so happy with the top [section] but I'm happy with the result."

It is her 18th event victory, which puts her second in the super-G season standings behind Brignone, as well as third overall behind the dominant American Mikaela Shiffrin and Slovakia's Petra Vlhová.

Shiffrin still needs one more victory to top the women's all-time list with 83 victories.

The next leg is scheduled to begin on Friday (January 20) in Cortina d'Ampezzo, with two super-G legs and one in downhill.
